The Gert Lush Vintage Cycling Festival

Event details

Date: Sunday 6 September, 2020

The Gert Lush vintage bike festival, a family-friendly day of retro rides and fun, returns to Bristol on Sunday 6 September 2020.

It’s an inclusive ride where all are welcomed and friends made – the only rule is no full carbon bikes.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of peace in Europe and to honour those who sacrificed, the event will have a Victory In Europe Day theme with riders encouraged to bring vintage bikes and wear period 1940s costume although it’s not obligatory.

Entries for the event opened in early January, with cyclists able to choose between 35- and 65-miles routes that wind their way through the glorious Somerset countryside or a family ride. During the ride, cyclists will be transported through time and space, with an immersive experience involving much more than just a cycle ride.

As well as the two adult rides, children can take part in the Babba Lush, a safe ride for youngsters aged between 5 – 9 years old that will enable them to get in on the fun. The ride is completely free, but all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Finish up at the VE Day Street Party Finale with music, vintage bike demos and other surprises in store for all the family. Free admission.

The event is part of a weekend of cycling in Bristol, taking place on the same weekend as Bespoked the UK’s leading celebration of handmade bicycles and that those who make them.
The Gert Lush is sponsored by Bristol law firm Barcan+Kirby, Bath Ales and Trek Bristol
