Strawberry Line section closure for essential embankment repairs

published on 13th October 2020 North Somerset, Route closures

North Somerset Council are planning to carry out required repair works to the collapsed embankment near to the Ilex Lane Bridge on Strawberry Line in October / November.

Latest update: 16/10/2020.

North Somerset has been informed by their contractors that there has been a delay on the pre-cast concrete panels for the new retaining Wall at Ilex Lane of up to 3 Weeks

EJ McGraths are rightly reluctant to make a start to the works and leave the embankment slope exposed for any longer than is necessary, and are hoping that the delay is going to be more like 2 weeks, and they will make a start as soon as it is practicable to do so.

North Somerset apologise for any inconvenience that is caused by this delayed start, the unfortunately material supplies are proving to be very erratic in the current conditions and we have found ourselves to be dependent on our material suppliers.

Thanks for your cooperation over this matter

For health and safety reasons, it is going to be necessary to close the whole of the Strawberry Line and the Winscombe Millennium Green between Station Road Sandford and Woodbrough Road Winscombe.

All the required diversion signs and plans will be in place during this closure.
